Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed deep concern over the resurgence of clashes in Mangu.
No fewer than four persons were killed when unidentified gunmen on Sunday evening attacked Gundum village, in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State..
A relative of the victims, Shedrack Gambo, said the victims all died in the attack while some sustained degrees of injuries.
Mutfwang, in a condolence message signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs Gyang Bere expressed sympathy with the affected families.
He described the incident the barbaric and unacceptable.
Governor Mutfwang also extended heartfelt condolences to the communities of Maraba Pushit District and Pinper in Komun District, Mangu Local Government Area, which were similarly attacked on November 29, 2023.
Mutfwang directed security agencies to pursue the attackers so that the perpetrators would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
A witness who spoke on the condition of anonymity,said the assailants set Edward Latu’s house ablaze, trapping women and children inside two rooms, but seven individuals were rescued by the timely arrival of security agents who forced the doors open.
However, Edward Latu and two others succumbed to brutal gunshot injuries during the incident.
