A two-day empowerment programme organised by Women Support and Care Initiative (WOSCIN), has ended in Lagos. WOSCIN is a Non Governmental Organisation established to empower women in the society. It was the 7th edition of the annual life changing programme.
Speaking at the event, the Founder and President of the organisation, Dr Omolara Quadry said, she was inspired to establish the organisation as a result of her experiences with women while holding the position of a woman leaders for a long time in Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG). “Here I discovered that most women are unemployed; depending on their husbands. So I decided to show them a little way to go about this through skill acquisition programmes. I have been in business for a long time. I am an industrialist. I started making my millions at the age of thirty something, so I’m used to this. Every woman should do something and make money to helptheir husbands and children. We have gone beyond teaching them how to make money. We even visit hospitals to off set hospital bills”.
She described women as the delicate cord holding security together saying, “When women are empowered, there is stability in the home. Children are well cared for. Men have good support, and the society gets to be more productive. When women are denied empowerment, society loses its adhesion and all units in the nation are weakened”.
Dr Quadry stated that the organisation have travelled far and near, including abroad supporting women and blessing souls.

Speakers at the event included, Dr Titi Adegbite, Legal Adviser, Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG), who gave a lecture titled, “Legal Right And Responsibility Over Your Business”. She stated reasons why a woman must earn money, and also have streams of income since monthly salary is not enough for sustainability. In all, Dr Adegbite provided the necessary tips for a successful business.
Other speakers included, Engr Telle Quadry, CEO Telarque Investment Ltd (Oil and Gas), who spoke on, “Tapping Into All Opportunities In Engineering And Agriculture”.
Also, an agricultural expert, Tapere Alex lecture was titled, “Tapping Into All Opportunities In Agriculture”, while Pastor Temitope Emovon, Founder/CEO, Helpmate Foundation, spoke on, “Essential Need For Prayer In Your Business”.
All geared towards how to warn a living agriculture and other ares of business.

The programme witnessed a book launch. The book was written by Dr Omolara Quadry titled, In Harmony With Your In-laws. According to her, it was inspired by the Lord’s vision. She has also drawn from a wealth of experience and biblical principles to explain and proffer solutions to the myriads of in-law problems many home face. “The issue of in-laws have destroyed some marriages”, she added.

In his comment, Engr Telle Quadry, who is the spouse of the convener Omolara Quadry, expressed gratitude to God for the success of the organisation. He went down memory lane on how small the organisation started and how big it is now.

Dr Olawale described the event as a wonderful one, thanking God for what Dr Quadry has been doing to touch the lives of women.
Also commenting on the book, she said, “In-laws have been the issue in marriages, but thank God this book is out. It will help to solve the problem of in-law”

Also speaking on the initiative, Dr Grace Igbokwe who represented the wife of Lagos State governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu said, “It is said that when women support women greater things will happen. So it is a very noble cause that Pastor Omolare Quadry have started since seven years ago. She has been marching on gallantly, touching many lives. I must congratulate her for this. It’s not easy to organise such a thing without any support from the government”.
She added that the book launch is an encouraging one saying,“Most problems people encounter in marriages are in-laws, especially in Africa, Nigeria where we run communal and extended family system. The book will empower you to know how to
handle your in-laws and have harmony in your home. You think that the bible says that a man should leave the parents and cling to the wife. It does not really follow that way. You have to take care of the in-law, talk to them, communicate with them, handle them with care otherwise your marriage will be a failure”.

Awards were given to some individuals who in one way or the other supported the initiative. Among them were Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu, DG, Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO) Dr Jummai Tutuwa, Post humous award to the parents of the Convener, her uncle, among others.
