From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
A traditional ruler in Osun State, the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, on Tuesday corroborated the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar who said Nigerians are hungry and angry.
Oluwo who spoke in his palace while hosting orphans, the disabled, and the underprivileged on valentine’s celebration, said Nigerians are suffering under this government.
The monarch who wondered if there is a leader in the country expressed displeasure over the continuous stay of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, in office.
He also called on the government at all levels to develop programmes to extend love and care for people with special needs and the underprivileged.
The monarch who ate and danced with the orphans said he was committed to making them happy because the government is not extending adequate support to them.
He said, “there is nobody to show them, love. Nigerians are not showing enough love to the underprivileged. They are special people. That is why I extend love to them every year.
“I hope the government can use this day to love the citizens more. Nigerians are suffering. As a King, I can not boast of N20,000 cash. If I owe the bank money, it will be accruing interest, but they are holding my money and no interest is given to me. Is that fair?
“I don’t think Nigeria is developing. We can’t change money and take money out of the system. This is barbaric. Do we have leaders with what is happening in Nigeria?
“I don’t think this Emefiele suppose to be there. Nigerians are suffering before, now, people can not access their monies. It is a despicable act to take money out of the system without bringing another one. It is inhumane. I believe they should change their way.
“I’m closer to the grassroots. It is difficult that you can not give your children money for school. This is not the Nigeria we want,” Oluwo added.
