9 traders, baby die in Osun, Rivers road crashes, 5 battle for survival

Nine traders were confirmed dead in a crash along Ikirun-Offa road, Inisa in Odo-otin Local Government of Osun State, yesterday.

Findings showed that the traders were returning from the Northern part of the country with their goods in the vehicle.

It was gathered that 12 people were involved in the accident that claimed nine lives before dawn on Monday.

Spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Kehinde Adeleke, said a Mitsubishi Canter with plate number MNA606SB NIGER was carrying bags of beans from Niger state to Benin, Edo Etate had an accident at midnight which resulted in the death of nine people out of twelve.

In another crash, a barely four-month-old was killed while five others are in critical condition.

The crash involving three cars occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State at about 5pm, yesterday.

The auto crash involved two Corolla and Chevrolet cars in front of  Aggrey Clinic in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.

All the occupants of the Chevrolet including the driver, parents of the twin babies,  one of the twins and another female passenger were battling for survival.

Daily Sun gathered that  the baby, whose sex could not be ascertained, was a twin; while the second child and others were rushed to two  private hospitals in the Port Harcourt metropolis.

The driver  of one of the vehicles (a Blue-coloured Corolla), who was unhurt, alleged that the crash was caused by the driver of the Corolla, who was on high speed.
