Super Eagles legend Obafemi Martins have charged players of Ojodu City to give it their best shot at the 76th Viareggio Youth Tournament in Italy.

Ojodu City is making a third appearance at the Viareggio Cup, as it kicks off March 9th to 23rd at the Gran Teatro Puccini in Torre del Lago.

Drawn in Group B- 6 alongside Europe’s Red Star Belgrade (Serbia), Rijeka (Croatia) and West African rival Olympique Thiessois (Senegal), the club intends to use the global scouting platform to market its emerging talents.

Martins, a former Inter Milan star while speaking with the team before their departure at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at the wee hours of Sunday, informed the Ojodu City contingent, that he won the Viareggio Cup in his early years with the Nerazzurri.

“I want to commend the management of Ojodu City for this huge football scouting project, as it will open meaningful opportunities for the players.”

My best advice to the players is for them to give it their best shot at the championship. So, you guys have to leave Nigeria for Europe before you get to 25-years-old, as football in Europe is about emerging talents.”

Meanwhile, the team safely arrived at Malpensa Airport on Sunday evening aboard a Royal Air Maroc flight. After finishing at the passport control, the team was chauffeured to their hotel.
