Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has certify 747, out of 907 Computer Based Test (CBT) centres that indicated interest to participate in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) exercise.
This was contained in the Board’s weekly bulletin that was released in Abuja, on Monday.
ICT Consultant to JAMB, Mr. Damilola Bamiro, who addressed a recent virtual stakeholders’ meeting confirmed that JAMB ensured that the verification and accreditation system was not compromised to favour any CBT centre.
He asked the successful CBT centres to count themselves lucky, urging them not to compromise on standards that earned them accreditation.
He assured that the Board will not compromise on its standards, and urged those CBT centres that scaled through the hurdle of accreditation to jealously guard their position as no centre is indispensable.
He further informed the CBT centre operators that JAMB will not hesitate to withdraw the accreditation of any CBT centre found to had engaged in unlawful migration of candidates from one computer system to another.
“This is because each system has a unique identifier. So, such unwholesome act could jeopardise the prospects of such candidates,” he said.
Mr. Bamiro further disclosed that the Board was set to fully embrace HIK vision CCTV system which comes equipped with a minimum of 16 channels to cover vital areas of their facilities, and urged centres to migrate speedily as 2024 had been designated as the take-off year.
He warned that any CBT centres that failed to record their examination sessions during the UTME would not be paid for those sessions, hence he enjoined the centres to maintain 24 pot switches which must be connected to uninterrupted power source (UPS) at all times.
On network coverage, Mr. Bamiro encouraged CBT centre operators that faces system challenge during the exercise not to hesitate to escalate it for the Board to include such case in its optimisation plans, stressing that all CBT centres must be located within areas with good Airtel and MTN services.
Similarly, Mr. Bamiro reminded CBT centres of the imperative of using static IP address system rather than dynamic ones because of the Board’s software design which were pattern in line with static ID.
