72,000 Milan fans give Chukwueze, others rousing welcome

Nigeria international, Samuel Chukwueze and his new Milan mates (Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek)  felt their home atmosphere for the first time since joining AC Milan in the summer as they were given a rousing welcome in their first home game of the season against Torino at San Siro last night.

According to SBnation, match tickets for the game were sold out before the kick-off with over 72,000 fans in attendance, letting off fireworks and flares, and singing Milan anthems as the players arrived.

Chukwueze got his AC Milan career off to a perfect start as they defeated Bologna 2-0 in their first game of the league season on Monday night. The Serie A giants announced signing of the Super Eagles winger from Villarreal in a deal reported to be worth €28m plus add-ons.

Chukwueze signed a five-year contract that will run till 2028. In his final season at Villarreal in LaLiga, the 24-year-old  scored six goals in 37 appearances.

He also helped the Yellow Submarine to win the UEFA Europa League title in 2021.
