..5 die in Ogun, Osun road crashes

Five people were killed while while seven sustained injuries in separate Eid-el Kabir day accident in Ososa, on the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode Expressway Ogun State and Aagba in Boripe Local Government and Sekona in Ede South Local Government both in Osun State, yesterday.

Mrs Florence Okpe, spokesperson, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, said the accident, which occurred at 11:28a.m., involved a truck with no registration number and a blue Toyota Camry Car with marked APP 478 FS.

She stated that the accident was caused by excessive speed which led to loss of control and subsequent collision of the two vehicles.

The FRSC spokesperson said that five people — a man and four women — were involved in the accident. A man and a woman were killed while three women were injured and were rushed to the General Hospital, Ijebu Ode for medical treatment while the bodies were deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.

Daily Sun gathered that the Osun crash involving a Toyota Camry and a motorcycle with registration number AKD 810 QX, occurred opposite Aagba Palace around 2:50 pm while the second one occurred along Osogbo-Gbongan expressway, Sekona.

Spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed that the three persons on the motorcycle died on the spot.

The accident at Sekona along the Osogbo-Gbongan expressway around 7:55 am, involved a bus with registration number Lagos, AGL 664 BH conveying 19 passengers and a Fiat van with registration number Katsina, MLF 304 XA, carrying three passengers were involved.

The bus reportedly left its track and had a head-on collision with the oncoming vehicle.

The Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, Dr Michael Adaralewa, expressed concern over incessant cases of accidents and advised members of the public to avoid reckless driving.
