3 killed in Kano petrol tanker explosion

Three persons have been killed in a petrol tanker explosion that happened in Kano.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of Kano Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, on Saturday,however, said that a motorcyclist hit by the incident, escaped alive.

Sunday Sun reports that the explosion, which happened at about 1. 30 pm on Friday, occurred on Zaria Road by Kura market Junction,  in Kura LG of the state and involved a lone tanker with registration  number :NGZ 35250 XA.

According to the statement, the tanker was conveying about 30,000 litres of petroleum products at the time the incident.

“Our men, in collaboration with police and Road Safety  conducted the operation successfully, while victims were handed over to ASP Ahmad Lawan of the Kura Police division” the statement held.

The statement added that the actual cause of the accident was still under investigation but urged motorists to drive with care and observe traffic rules while driving.
