The accident which was confirmed by the Abia State Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Fredric Ogiden, attributed the incident to over speeding

An eye witness account said three of the students died on the spot, two were fatally wounded and one miraculously came out unhurt.

The bodies if the three dead students were deposited at the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia where medical personnel are battling to save the lives of the injured.
