Twenty-eight worshippers who were abducted during a church service in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, last Sunday, have regained their freedom.

Forty worshippers were abducted, including children and women, but 28 of them have been released. An executive member of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), who confirmed the development, said 11 of the victims were released on Wednesday night, according to a Channels TV report.

The CAN source disclosed that 17 more victims regained their freedom yesterday, while 12 others are still in captivity. The source, however, could not confirm if any ransom was paid to the bandits before the victims were released.
