The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has revealed that the 2027 governorship ticket of the party has been reserved for the incumbent Governor, Francis Nwifuru.

The party said no politician in the state has indicated interest for the ticket.

Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Stanley Emegha, made the disclosure when he received Nwifuru’s support group known as FON Youth Movement, at the party’s secretariat in Abakaliki, the state capital.

The group was at the state secretariat of the party to make a donation of N40 million for the nomination fee for the governor’s re-election bid.

Emegha noted that leaders of the party in the state and beyond have agreed to support the governor to finish his second term in office because of his good works in the state.

“Nobody has indicated interest to contest against him. Even the opposition parties in the state have equally met and agreed to adopt him as their governorship candidate. But I advised them to wait for the right time, and to follow the Constitution and guidelines of their party”, he said.

He commended the youths for their support and solidarity to the governor and the party, assuring them that the second term bid of the governor will be the easiest since the creation of the state.

National President, FON Youth Movement, Comrade Chinedu Emenike, said the youths took the decision to pay for the governor’s nomination after a comprehensive review of his achievements across all sectors of the state.

He praised the governor for giving the youths prominent positions in his government, adding that the youths had never experienced such a level of inclusion in governance since 1999.

He promised to galvanise Ebonyi youths to vote massively for the governor come 2027.
