The membership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has continued its impressive growth with high-profile defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC).

In Bayelsa West, where the national leader of the party and former governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, hails from, a top member of the APC, High Chief Selekebina Saboh from Ekeremor, has defected to the NDC.

Saboh, a former Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Area and grassroots mobiliser, had recently resigned from the APC.

Findings indicated that Saboh is expected to be received into the NDC on Monday, 30th, at a mega rally to be held at the party secretariat along Isaac Boro Expressway.

Investigations at the venue revealed a beehive of activities as event planners are erecting giant billboards and backdrops with the NDC logo, photographs of Saboh, the national chairman of the party, Senator Moses Cleopas, and the national leader, Dickson.

Saboh’s defection to the NDC is going to change the political dynamics of Bayelsa State, as sources hinted that he is going to contest the House of Representatives seat for Sagbama/ Ekeremor.

Also, a serving member of the House of Assembly, in Kolokuma/ Opokuma Constituency 2, Hon Wisdom Fafi, has resigned from PDP and announced his defection to the NDC.

Fafi, one of the three House of Assembly members who refused to defect to the APC with Bayelsa State governor, told a gathering of supporters over the weekend that he has defected to the NDC.

The lawmaker who commended his followers for their love and support over the years urged them to join him as he charts a fresh political direction to serve them.

Fafi assured the people that NDC would bring meaningful development and improved governance to Constituency 2.

According to him, his decision to defect to NDC was predicated on his admiration for the national leader, Senator Dickson, whom he described as a leader committed to the welfare of the people.

Fafi, who noted that the ideology of the NDC is rooted in Dickson’s vision of prioritising service to humanity, expressed optimism that the people of Kolokuma/Opokuma will reap the dividends of democracy from the NDC.
Sources stated that high-profile defections to the NDC  from the APC-led government in the state are expected in the coming days.
