The Lagos For Prosperity Group (LPG) has endorsed a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Laja Adeoye as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.

The group’s spokesman, Mr Kazeem Oshodi, announced the endorsement in a statement yesterday in Lagos.

He said the move signalled the growing political momentum for change ahead of the 2027 election in Lagos State.

He described Adeoye as a formidable contender capable of challenging the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

He said: “After careful assessment of the current state of affairs in Lagos, the LPG unequivocally endorses Prince Laja Adeoye as the next governor of Lagos State in 2027.

“Adeoye represents fresh, innovative and people-centred leadership that Lagos desperately needs to move beyond incremental progress of transformative prosperity for every resident.”

He described the group as a coalition of progressive citizens, youths, entrepreneurs, business leaders, mobilisers and community advocates committed to inclusive growth.

He praised Adeoye’s track record as a visionary entrepreneur, real estate developer and political strategist, with deep understanding of Lagos economic dynamics.

He said that the group had pledged to mobilise millions of Lagos residents across political, social and economic divides to ensure his emergence as governor.

He noted that Lagos required a transformative leadership that would deliver inclusive prosperity beyond what it described as selective flagship projects.

The spokesman, however, acknowledged some infrastructure strides under the current administration led by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, noting that such projects included road rehabilitations and rail initiatives like the Lagos Blue Line.

“While we acknowledge some infrastructure strides under the present APC government, these efforts have often been marred by delays, incomplete execution and unequal distribution of benefits.

“Persistent traffic gridlock, rising living costs, inadequate affordable housing and insufficient job creation remain serious concerns affecting many Lagosians daily.

“Lagos deserves more than selective flagship projects; it requires holistic, inclusive prosperity that benefits all social classes, locations and communities,” he said.

According to him, Adeoye has demonstrated excellence in real estate development, delivering high-quality and sustainable housing schemes in the private sector.

He added: “His expertise in urban planning, innovation and private-sector efficiency uniquely positions him to tackle Lagos’ core developmental challenges effectively.

“Under his administration, Lagosians can expect a massive affordable housing revolution driven by partnerships and innovative financing models.

“This approach will address housing deficits, reduce slum proliferation and expand access to decent housing for low- and middle-income earners.”

He expressed confidence that Adeoye would prioritise economic diversification by developing sectors such as technology, tourism, agriculture and industrial clusters.

He said such initiatives would generate sustainable jobs and reduce over-dependence on federal allocations and oil revenues.

He assured that Adeoye’s leadership also promises enhanced transportation systems, including expanded rail networks, improved BRT operations and smart traffic management solutions.

He said these measures would significantly reduce commuting challenges and improve productivity across the state.

He further stated that education and healthcare would receive strategic investments to improve access, quality and outcomes.

According to him, vocational training, digital education and modern healthcare infrastructure would be prioritised under Adeoye’s leadership.

He stressed the state need for improved security through community policing, technology-driven surveillance and transparent governance systems.

He also highlighted environmental sustainability, including waste-to-wealth initiatives and climate-resilient infrastructure as key priorities.

According to him, the group has been at the vanguard of advocating full local government autonomy to strengthen grassroots governance and improve service delivery across communities.

He called on the opposition parties, civil society groups and Lagos residents to rally behind Adeoye’s candidacy.

He said that the LPG’s vision is to build a Lagos where prosperity is inclusive, sustainable, and beneficial to all residents, irrespective of background.
