Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Sunday Okoro, has declared support for Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to return to the Senate in 2027 for Abia North to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy.
After a critical look at the race for Abia North senatorial seat, Okoro emphasised that any discourse on representation must be anchored on facts, tangible effects and quantifiable results, rather than selective narratives or revisionist evaluations.
Chief Okoro described Senator Kalu as a leader whose service records, accessibility and substantial contributions consistently enhance the lives of the inhabitants of Abia North, stressing that for continuity of quality representation, there is a need for the senatorial district to rally round him.
He noted that leadership, in a complicated democracy such as Nigeria’s, is assessed not merely by rhetoric or theoretical discourse, but by tangible outcomes.
“Throughout Abia North, Senator Kalu has consistently demonstrated dedication to infrastructure development, educational support, healthcare initiatives, youth empowerment, and direct constituent contact,
“Roads have been restored, academic institutions and healthcare facilities have received support, scholarships have been awarded, and many constituents have been empowered through employment facilitation, skills development, and humanitarian initiatives.
“These are not concepts; they are tangible realities encountered by families, communities, and traditional institutions throughout the region.
“Critics frequently neglect to acknowledge that effective representation necessitates influence, experience, and political capital — attributes that Senator Kalu possesses in abundance.
“Abia North’s visibility and access to the highest echelons of national decision-making have been facilitated by his seniority, national influence, and connections inside governmental institutions. In a time when marginalisation poses a genuine threat, Abia North cannot exchange established influence for unpredictability.”
Chief Okoro described the leadership style of Senator Kalu as all-inclusive.
“Furthermore, Senator Kalu’s leadership approach is grounded in direct interaction with the populace. He attentively listens, intervenes, and responds, frequently exceeding statutory expectations.
“His methodology demonstrates a profound comprehension of the socio-economic conditions in Abia North and a readiness to leverage personal and political assets to address deficiencies in government procedures.
“As 2027 nears, the inquiry facing Abia North should not be whether to abandon experience, but rather how to leverage it. Consistent leadership, when supported by performance and community impact, is a strategic decision rather than a detriment. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has garnered the confidence of Abia North via his actions, perseverance, and unwavering dedication.
“Abia North warrants representation that is proven, reliable, and transformative. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu remains the leader,” he said.
