The people of Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State have declared that 2027 is their turn to present House of Representatives member for Akure North/Akure South federal constituency of Ondo State.
Concerned leaders of the Local Government Area expressed concern that indigenes of the local government area have not represented the federal constituency for the past 24 years.
The leaders under the aegis of Akure North Mandate for Bamidele Ologunloluwa called for justice, equity and fairness in the choice of the candidate of the parties for the position come 2027.
In a statement by the coordinator of the group, Ebenezer Oluwatuyi the Akure North leaders said “In every enduring democracy, the legitimacy of representation is anchored not merely on electoral victory, but on the philosophical principles of justice, equity and inclusion.
“The doctrine of distributive justice, famously advanced in political thought holds that fairness must guide the allocation of opportunities and power within a society. By this standard, the political reality of the Akure North and South Federal Constituency raises a fundamental concern.

“Since Nigeria’s return to democratic governance in 1999, representation in the Green Chamber has remained exclusively within Akure South. Across seven electoral cycles—spanning over 24 years, Akure North has not produced a single representative. This is not just a statistical imbalance; it is a clear deviation from the principles of equity and shared political belonging.
“A system that consistently overlooks one segment of its constituency risks eroding trust, weakening participation, and undermining its own moral authority. Political philosopher John Rawls’ theory of justice emphasizes fairness as the cornerstone of any just system where opportunities must not only exist but must be accessible to all under conditions of equality. In this context, the continued exclusion of Akure North contradicts the very essence of democratic fairness.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC), as a party built on progressive ideals, now stands at a defining moment. Will it uphold the principle of inclusive representation, or sustain a pattern that increasingly appears unjust?” the group added.
The group therefore called on the people of the federal constituency to support the candidature of Bamidele Ologunloluwa who hails from Akure North Local Government Area.
“Ologunloluwa represents more than an individual aspiration; he embodies the principle of corrective justice. His political journey reflects loyalty, service, and competence. From his role as Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters to the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, to his tenure as Commissioner for Youths and Sports, and Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency, he has consistently demonstrated administrative capacity and grassroots connection.
“Twenty-four years is more than enough time for patience to mature into expectation. Now is the moment for equity to become reality,” they said.
