From John Adams, Minna
Still basking in the euphoria of mass defection of over 5,000 members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to its fold last week, Niger State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the party’s candidates against embarking on campaign of calumny, saying that the party would not hesitate to discipline candidates that go against its campaign guidelines.
This is just as the party said it had acquired not less than 100 campaign vehicles ahead of the September date for the commencement of political parties campaign for the 2023 general elections.
The State Chairman of the party, Barrister Tanko Beji, stated this in Minna shortly after an expanded meeting of the State Working Committee and party caucus, including the 25 local government party chairmen held at the party secretariat.
The meeting, he disclosed, was to strategize towards commencement of the campaign next month ahead of the 2023 general elections, stressing that the party would leave no stone unturned to ensure victory for its candidates at all levels in the general elections.
While revealing one of the party’s strategies for a successful campaign, the chairman maintained that apart from issues-based campaign, it would adopt a bottom-up approach where the people at the grassroots would be engaged to ensure total victory for the party.
The party, however, said that it had directed all its candidates and supporters to ensure that their campaigns were issue based and devoid of rancour and acrimonies.
