Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Archbishop of Enugu Archdiocese, Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Rev. Christopher Ede, has charged Nigerian youths to rise up and recover Nigeria.

He said the youths should rise up from the walls the politicians have pushed them to and their bending knees and stand for integrity and the Nigerian nation in order to reclaim it from the wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Addressing the executive members of The Professional Christian Youth Forum (TPCYF), who paid him a courtesy visit at the Archbishop’s Court Enugu yesterday, he said sitting back without visible action to correct the anomalies would not help.

His words: “You don’t sit down, keep pity-partying and think the world wants to listen to you. No. The world wants you to step forward and give leadership and the world follows whoever knows the road.

“The problem of today’s youth is that because of poverty and because of the way and manner our politicians have pushed us to the wall, the youths accept everything, they bend their knees too fast and are now part of bribery and corruption, they are now part of easy-cut and it is shameful. Please stand for integrity, stand up for your nation, stand up for the society, we must recover our country.”

The Archbishop stressed that though the Church is not partisan it will flow with individuals that are credible.
