2023 Bayelsa Governor’s Cup enters round of 16

The Bayelsa Governor’s Cup tagged “Prosperity Cup” again lived up to bookmakers’ expectation as it continues to thrill football lovers in the round of 32 games.

Sixteen teams have moved to the Round of 16 after combined goals of 54, an average of 3,4 goals per match were scored in the Round of 32.

Crusaders Feeders FC of Peretoru now regarded as the dark horse in the tournament  surprised pundits by humiliating Everton FC Ikolo, putting 15 goals past the rookie team at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

In the second game, Kiri Pogu Owokiri of Nembe lost 1-2 to Dream Academy School of Yenagoa just as Buotoru FC Igbedi bowed 0-1 to Akenfa FC at the Tombia Center while Dream Boys FC, Odi humbled Yenigue FC 4-0. NUJ Bayelsa State Council overpowered Ikolo FC, 4-0.

Also at Army College, Ebedebiri Field, Agge United slumped to a 0-2 defeat to Agbere FC as Azagbene Federated Community was trounced 0-4 by Ofoni United.

At the Niger Delta University, Ammasoma venue, Ayisco FC Ogboinbiri edged pass Rose of Sharon FC 1-0 with Oporoma FC also beating Onopa FC 1-0.

In other games Odioma FC pipped Apret FC Imiringi 2-1 at the Nembe Center while Otuasega Movers FC triumphed 4-3 on penalties over Moses FC, Sangana after playing 1-1 in regulation time.

At the Swali Center, Biseni United crushed Okodi FC 4-0 as De Grace FC outscored Amassoma United 3-1.

The last games at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex saw Bayelsa United Feeders outclassed Ayamalem FC 3-0, with Shegbelite FC beating Igbogene FC 9-8 on penalty shootout after both teams played a barren draw in regulation time while Ogbo United dismantled Ogbolo FC 3-0

In some of the Round of 16 fixtures, Odioma United FC will face Otuasega Movers in the first game at Nembe Centre while Shegbelite FC will slug it out with Bayelsa Utd Feeders FC at the Samson Siasia Centre.

Also, Ogbo United FC Ikibiri will square up with Crusaders Feeders FC
