A non-governmental group, the Aviary Club f Nigeria (ACN), yesterday, tasked Nigerians to shun act that is capable of setting the country on fire but should maintain peace before, during and after the elections for the interest of the nation.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Benin by the head, Global Public Relations Director, ACN, Hon Agomini Babatunde Martins.
He urged the citizens to elect the best hands across party lines.
Hon Agomini argued that as a country with diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, endowed with great human and material resources, It is their sincere hope that citizens whose credibility and competence are not in doubt are elected.
He said, “Candidates with proven records in the act of governance and management of human and material resources and transparency in handling government responsibilities and protection of citizens and promotion of economic development”.
He added, “On this note, we appeal to all citizens to shun acts of violence against fellow citizens during the election process and to promote peaceful conduct during this period”.
While calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to stick with the responsibility of conducting a free, fair, and credible election as expected by all, he admonished the eventual presidential winner to be magnanimous in victory to douse impending violence in the aftermath of the election.
