2 policemen killed by hoodlums in Abia

From Ogbonnaya Ndukwe, Aba

Two policemen were Tuesday killed by unidentified gunmen in the same area of Ariaria International Market in Abia State.

Their patrol van was also set ablaze by the hoodlums, said to have arrived the area in black uniforms and covering their heads with hoods.

Though details of the incident is still sketchy as at the time of this report, with the state police authorities yet to make any comment, it was gathered that the hoodlums were on a shooting spree, with persons doing business in the area urgently shutting their shops and running away to safety.

There had been earlier speculations, on the incident when news filtered, that it might have occured at the notorious Ariaria junction, along the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway, where there was a security checkpoint manned by soldiers.
Further details would be made public as they evolve.
