Two suspects who disguised as military personnel have been arrested by the police in Delta State.
The suspects, Mike Okon (27) and Wilson Sunday (24), are both from Cross River State, according to the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Bright Edafe.
Edafe, in a statement, said the suspects were arrested by a combined team from the department of operations “COBRA 11”, comprising operatives from response squad, raiders squad, and operations department.
He said the operatives embarked on an intelligence led operation and stormed their hideout around the Okwe axis of Asaba, where they apprehended. Edafe said when search was conducted on them, an army camouflage uniform, a pair of black jungle boots, three green berets and one black beret were recovered, adding that investigation was ongoing.
He also confirmed the arrest of one Ahmed Umaru (26), a tricycle rider who allegedly concealed three locally made guns and one live cartridge in a bag of rice. He said the tricycle with three occupants was intercepted by operatives of Eagle Net Special Squad.
He stated that while the other two occupants escaped into the bush, the rider who hails from Ayingba Local Government Area of Kogi State was held.
Edafe said the tricycle with registration number RRU 773 QK was impounded, while the exhibits were recovered, adding that investigation was ongoing.
