Relief has finally come to communities in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State as Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo completes the long-awaited 16.4-kilometre Nawfija–Ajali–Ufuma–Ogbunka Road, bringing an end to years of hardship and isolation.
Residents and stakeholders say the newly completed road has not only eased transportation but also ignited economic and social transformation across the axis.
Speaking in Abuja, real estate developer and philanthropist, Chief Mrs. Obiageli Okwubanego, hailed the project as a landmark achievement, noting that what was once a nightmare journey has now become a smooth and efficient route.
She recalled the painful state of the road in 2019, when mourners struggled to attend her mother’s burial due to its deplorable condition, stressing that the governor has now fulfilled a promise that many once doubted.
According to her, travel time along the corridor has been slashed by nearly two hours, while the road now serves as a strategic alternative to the ever-busy Umunze Roundabout, easing traffic for travellers heading towards neighbouring states.
Beyond mobility, the impact is being felt in the local economy. Farming communities along the corridor—known for palm oil production—can now move goods faster and more efficiently, boosting trade and livelihoods.
The road also opens up access to key local assets, including the Onuoigbo palm plantation and the popular Ozi Stream, creating fresh opportunities for agriculture, commerce and tourism.
described the development as part of Soludo’s broader transformation drive, emphasizing that some communities like Nawfija are experiencing a tarred road for the very first time.
With improved access for festive travel, business activities and rural development, the project is already being seen as a game-changer—turning once-forgotten communities into emerging hubs of opportunity.
