Illegal lithium processing in Ogun

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 14 Chinese nationals and one Nigerian over illegal lithium processing in Ogun State.

In a Monday statement, the EFCC said operatives of its Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 arrested the suspects at four illegal lithium processing plants in the Ogere area.

They were arrested on Friday, October 23, following credible intelligence and surveillance, the anti-graft commission said.

Operatives recovered bags of lithium rocks, 18 mobile devices, four computer laptops, two decoders, a television remote control, and a trailer truck from the suspects.

The EFCC said the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
