How I am advancing cellular communication system networks performance – Prof. Isabona
Isabona is a renowned physicist who specializes in communication physics, with special focus in Radio Resource Management in Cellular communication system networks. Prof. Isabona, completed his undergraduate training at Ambrose University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria in 2003.
After the one year compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Bright Future College, Uyo, he proceeded to obtain his postgraduate Master Degree at the University of Uyo, where he bagged his M.Sc in Physics in 2008. In order to become more professional in teaching and research, he went further to obtain a postgraduate diploma in education (PGDE) at the same university. After that, he commenced his doctorate degree at the famous University of Benin, where he bagged his Ph.D degee in Physics with Electronics. While on his doctorate research, he got a lecturing appointment at the Department of Basic Sciences at Benson Idahosa University in 2009.
During his doctoral research, he focused on optimizing cellular network performance to enhance the planning, deployment, and management of commercial cellular communication networks in South-South Nigeria. In 2015, he got a higher lecturing position at Department of Physics, Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria. In March 2016, he ward awarded a postdoctoral scholarship: School of Engineering, University of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.
Upon completion of the postdoctoral research, he returned to his Department of Physics at Federal University Lokoja. In December 2022, our pal finally got that long-awaited promotion to full Professor status! It was a big deal for him, and rightly so. This wasn’t just any regular promotion – this was the real deal. It meant that he had officially reached the top of his career in terms of academic achievement, expertise, and recognition within his field. And to top it all off, the promotion was retroactively effective from October 1st, 2021.
Cheers to him! It’s always awesome to see hard work and dedication pay off in such a big way. In 2022, he received an appointment offer as a Professor in the Department of Physics at the College of Science and Technology, Covenant University, for the 2022/2023 Academic Session on Sabbatical Placement. During his sabbatical at Covenant University, which is ranked as the top university in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa according to the Times Higher Education ranking of 2023, Prof. Isabona assumed various responsibilities.
These included teaching prescribed courses, co-supervising students on Ph.D. research programs, and more. One of the pivotal roles he undertook was that of a researcher. Prof. Isabona spent a significant portion of his sabbatical conducting research in his field of expertise, exploring new ideas and theories that had been brewing in his mind for quite some time. This allowed him to delve deeper into his chosen field and contribute valuable insights to the academic community.
In addition to his role as a researcher, Prof. Isabona also took on the responsibilities of a mentor during his sabbatical. He worked closely with junior faculty members, senior colleagues and graduate students, providing guidance and support as they navigated the challenges of academia. Prof. Isabona shared his knowledge and expertise with these budding scholars, helping them develop their own research projects and refine their skills as future academics. Furthermore, Prof.
Isabona assumed the role of a writer during his sabbatical, publishing articles that showcased his innovative research findings and insights. His writing contributions helped disseminate knowledge and stimulate academic discourse in his field, further establishing him as a thought leader and expert in his area of specialization. Prof. Isabona also took on the role of a collaborator during his sabbatical, working with fellow academics and researchers on joint projects and publications, where he showcased his findings and insights. His collaborative efforts facilitated the exchange of ideas and the creation of new knowledge, leading to innovative research outcomes that had a lasting impact on the academic community.
Prof. Isabona’s collaborative approach to scholarly work exemplified the spirit of cooperation and camaraderie that defines the academic profession. Currently, Isabona is exploring the potential of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to enhance adaptive prediction signal path losses over cellular communication. By leveraging these technologies, I believe we can improve network efficiency, data transmission speed, and overall user experience. Through ongoing research and experimentation, I hope to develop innovative solutions that revolutionize the way we communicate through mobile devices.
In conlusion, Prof. Isabona’s contributions to the field of communication physics have had a lasting impact on the industry, leading to advancements in areas such as signal processing, and network optimization. His work has helped to improve the efficiency and reliability of wireless communication systems, paving the way for new innovations nationally and internationally. Prof. Isabona’s leadership research style emphasized collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, setting a high standard for performance and achievement in the academic community.
