13 Nigerians rescued from a human trafficking network in Ghana have safely returned home, with the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, commending the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana for facilitating their safe return.

Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, NiDCOM, said in a statement that Dabiri-Erewa was grateful to the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, for her continuous provision of transportation and other forms of assistance during rescue operations.

Additionally, it said that the Commission offered logistical support to guarantee their safe return to their individual states, while the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) carried out profiling as part of the routine reintegration procedure.

Head of Operations in Lagos, Dele Ogunkanbi, met the returnees on behalf of the Chairman of NIDCOM.

She cautioned young Nigerians against accepting unconfirmed employment offers and making travel plans overseas, reiterating worries about the rising dangers of illicit migration.

‎Two infants, ages four weeks and sixteen months, and eleven adults make up the rescued group.

Additionally, based on preliminary reports, some of the women who were rescued and their kids are receiving mental health treatment and medical care after being diagnosed with significant illnesses.

‎The repatriation exercise was led by Amb. Adeoye, the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, alongside key stakeholders and partner agencies.
