A total of 120 victims were killed by fire outbreaks, road accidents or tragic incidents involving pond and well in different parts of Kano State.
A round-off statement by the Kano State Fire Service and signed by Saminu Yusif Abdullahi on Thursday further remarked that property estimated at the value of N6,476, 144,742.00k were lost to fire outbreaks in the past year.
According to their statistics, residential fire outbreaks increased to the 376 cases from the figure of the previous year adding that they received 665 cases of fire incidents, conducted 130 operations and attended to 48 false calls or alarms.
They, however, disclosed that 91 lives were successfully rescued in the year, the same for property valued at N15,325,465,767.00k, which were saved in 2025.
The Director, Kano Fire Service, Sani Anas, in his New Year message, urged the public to adopt proper fire safety measures and handle fire- related activities with extra care in order to reduce incidents of fire disasters across the state. End.
