Edo State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Oladeinde Foluke, has said that a total of 1,136 comprising 607 male and 529 female have been duly registered and are ready to be sworn in as members of the scheme in the state.

She disclosed this at the Swearing-In ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members held at Okada.

Mrs. Oladeinde said the Corps Members, within a short while, have adjusted to the camp life while exhibiting a great sense of discipline, dedication and responsibility since their arrival on camp.

Oladeinde said they have demonstrated keen interest in all aspects of the orientation course and have been responding satisfactorily to instructions, indicative of the fact that the objectives of the course will be achieved.

The state coordinator, while pledging the continuous support of the scheme towards the lofty goals of the Make Edo Great Again “MEGA” agenda of the state government, said its being confronted with inadequate hostel accommodation for both male and female Corps members and collaborating agencies and other amenities that engender smooth running of the scheme.

Earlier, the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, said the Corps members would be faced with sundry opportunities and challenges but he however expressed confident that the orientation course will equip them with the necessary skill-set needed to make it the year of outstanding and fulfilment.

The governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Security, Mr. Peter Osagie, urged them to avail themselves the opportunities provided by the NYSC management through its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme aimed towards empowering youth Corps members to be self-reliant noting that it is no longer news that the white collar jobs are not readily available.
