A 26-year-old man, Ogaga Kome, is presently cooling off in police custody after he allegedly shot dead an 11-year girl, Hassanna Merit.
The suspect was said testing a locally made gun in his house in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State when he shot the victim.
The suspect fled immediately after the incident but was later taken to the police station by his relative.
Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest on Thursday in a statement issued in Asaba.

Edafe also confirmed the arrest of a female suspect and two others in connection with a stolen unregistered motorcycle in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, an intelligence-led investigation culminated in the arrest of one Iyegbunuwe Oluchukwu, the prime suspect in the stolen motorcycle saga.
“The suspect led the detectives to their hideout at neighbouring Onicha-Ugbo, where two other suspects, one Okwudili Ozah and Esther Nwoko were arrested and one English revolver pistol, 15 rounds of live ammunition and six expended ammunition were recovered.
“Suspects allegedly stole the motorcycle at gunpoint and it’s suspected to be in the possession of one of their accomplices Chidinma Nwoko, the husband of Esther Nwoko. The effort is on to arrest the other members of the gang,” he said.
