A road crash yesterday claimed one life and injured three at Aiyetoro Junction by the Traffic Light corridor,Epe, Lagos.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that the collision involving a truck laden with yam and a commercial tricycle.
In a statement by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, preliminary findings indicated that the truck, with registration number “AGL 764 XB, was travelling from Ijebu-Ode and attempted a U-turn, inward Eleko at the junction. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a stationary tricycle with number plate:SMK 127 QR.

“The impact of the crash claimed the life of one occupant on the spot, while three others sustained severe injuries.
“LASTMA operatives who were on routine traffic management duties in the area swiftly responded to the scene. Working alongside officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Police Force, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and military personnel, they rescued the trapped victims from the wreckage.
“The injured and the deceased were conveyed by the FRSC to the General Hospital, Epe, for medical attention and further procedures, while security operatives cordoned off the area to maintain order and ensure the smooth restoration of traffic flow.
“The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commiserated with the family of the deceased and prayed for the repose of the departed soul. He also wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
Bakare-Oki called on relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine liability and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.”
