Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has urged corps members deployed to the state for their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme to feel at home and enjoy their one-year service.

Zulum made this known while addressing some corps members yesterday in Biu, a town in the southern part of Borno. He was on a working visit to the area.

“Borno is your home, and enjoy your service,” he told the corps members as he interacted with them shortly after his arrival in Biu.

He said his administration will continue to empower Nigerian youths and encourage them to make meaningful impacts in the state.

He emphasised that investment in youth development remains a strategic priority for rebuilding livelihoods and promoting sustainable economic recovery in the state.

The governor announced a N50,000 donation to each of the corps members and N200,000 to nursing mothers among them. The NYSC officials in the area also benefitted from the gift, which he said was meant to encourage them.

Zulum proceeded to pay a courtesy visit to the Emir of Biu, Alhaji Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, at his palace. He announced the employment of 100 graduates from Biu Local Government Area.

He disclosed that the state will employ 50 graduates from each of the 27 local government areas, while larger LGAs such as Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, Jere, Biu, Askira-Uba and Gwoza will have 100 slots each.

He commended the royal father for maintaining peace in the area.
