Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has canvassed for stronger trade ties between Nigeria and Cameroon to strengthen cross-border commerce.
Zulum while speaking at a bilateral meeting with some Cameroon officials at Banki, a border town in Borno yesterday, said strengthening trade ties will foster unity and economic prosperity among Nigerians and Cameroonians.
The governor who earlier inaugurated an international cattle market at the town before the bilateral meeting, said the state will collaborate with the Federal government to improve trade relations with neighbouring African nations.
“The government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is more committed than ever to promoting trans-border trade,” he said.

He stressed the need to reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks to ensure the smooth flow of goods across both nations.
Zulum emphasized the importance of facilitating easier trade, especially of cattle between the citizens of both countries.
He assured the Cameroonian officials of his commitment to providing the political will necessary to drive the process.
The meeting, was attended by members of the National Assembly from Borno State and officials from the Far North region of Cameroon, led by Governor, Midjiyawa Bakari.
Nigeria shares borders with Cameroon, Chad and Niger in northeast Borno State.
