The Zamfara Electrification Agency (ZEA) is collaborating with the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) to revive and upgrade 200kW Solar–Diesel Hybrid Mini-Grid in Shinkafi.
This was the outcome of a meeting between ZEA management led by its Executive Secretary, Muzammil Muhammad, and the the ECN Director-General, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
Parts of the resolutions of the engagement was ECN’s commitment to collaborate with the ZEA on the revival and potential capacity upgrade of the 200kW Solar–Diesel Hybrid Mini-Grid in Shinkafi Local Government Area, constructed in 2022/2023.

The meeting provided an avenue for the agency to present its achievements over the past 10 months, and to deliberate on priority areas for institutional collaboration.
Key discussions focused on capacity building and technical training, deployment of research-driven energy innovations, and accelerated expansion of renewable energy solutions across Zamfara State.
The ZEA has described the collaboration as critical to advancing sustainable energy access, supporting economic growth, and improving electricity supply across the state.
