…Orders investigation into incident
Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has condoled with the families of victims of the collapsed Zaria Central Mosque, Zaria.
The governor, who expressed shock and sadness over the incident, which occurred in the early evening of Friday, prayed for Allah’s divine healing and recovery of all those who were injured.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, the governor expressed appreciation to His Royal Highness, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau, for what he described as his fatherly role the Emir played in rallying his subjects to carry out rescue operations and assistance to the injured.
He also commended the efforts of the first-responders, medical personnel and citizens of Zaria who took part in rescuing the survivors.
Governor Sani disclosed that an advance team of senior government officials led by Alhaji Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the Secretary to the State Government, were already in Zaria to assess the situation and to attend the Islamic funeral rites of the deceased.
He added that the state government would order an immediate investigation into the cause of the unfortunate incident.
Governor Sani, therefore, urged citizens of the state to offer prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed.
