The Zamfara State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Lawal Barau Bungudu, has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work on the Gusau–Dansadau road construction project, which is being executed by Dantata & Sawoe Construction Companies.

He voiced his dissatisfaction during an inspection visit to the project site, noting that, despite the contract being awarded to two contractors for more than two years, they have achieved only about 19 percent progress.

According to a statement by Comrade Jamilu Bello, the Information Officer of the Ministry, the commissioner described the situation as unacceptable, considering the importance of the road to the socio-economic activities of communities along the axis.

Hon Barau Bungudu called on the companies to immediately comply with agreed project timelines and accelerate the pace of work. He warned that the state government would not hesitate to revoke and reassign the contract if the contractors fail to meet expectations.

“The people of Dansadau and neighbouring communities have waited long enough,” he said. “We demand a significant improvement in performance within the shortest possible time, or the government will take appropriate action.”

The Commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration to delivering quality infrastructure that will improve the lives of citizens and enhance connectivity across the state.
