Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, have neutralised scores of terrorists in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre of Operation Hadarin Daji, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen.

According to him, “Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, successfully conducted a fighting patrol in response to a distress call from the residents and vigilantes of Yar Galadima village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“The development occurred in the early hours of 1 December 2024 when the troops of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kanutara were alerted at about 5 am that terrorists were attacking the village. The troops responded promptly to provide assistance and restore peace to the affected area.

“During the patrol, the troops encountered terrorists who laid ambush at two different locations on the approach to the village. The ambush sites were cleared by the troops, and some of the terrorists were neutralised while others fled. Additionally, the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji promptly dispatched aircraft to provide close air support to the troops as they advanced to the village, while the fleeing terrorists were equally engaged by the aircraft, leading to scores of terrorists being neutralised.

“Operation Hadarin Daji remains dedicated to eliminating terrorist threats in the North West and Niger State,” he said.
