Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Tuesday inaugurated the newly rehabilitated General Hospital in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area. The facility, which caters to both Kauran Namoda and neighboring communities, has been upgraded to provide improved healthcare services.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, disclosed that the hospital is now equipped with state-of-the-art medical tools, including medical diagnostic sets, ECG machines, centrifuge machines, delivery beds, blood mixing machines, an automatic haematology analyzer, an electronic weighing system, and an LED theatre operating lamp, among other essential equipment.
During the commissioning, Governor Lawal emphasized that the hospital renovations are part of his administration’s broader efforts to address the health challenges facing Zamfara State. “Our primary focus is on revitalizing deteriorating infrastructure and tackling issues across all sectors,” he said. The governor explained that healthcare is a key priority in his six-pillar transformation agenda, following education and security.

“We aim to ensure that quality healthcare services are accessible in both rural and urban areas,” Lawal stated, adding that the decision to prioritize Kauran Namoda was based on its strategic importance as a critical hub for surrounding communities.
Governor Lawal highlighted that in the last 14 months, significant progress has been made in improving the state’s healthcare sector. He cited the renovation of hospitals and primary healthcare centers, as well as ongoing plans to recruit and train additional health workers, procure essential medical supplies, and introduce free maternal and child health services.
The governor expressed confidence that these efforts will lead to a reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates. “Today’s inauguration is a testament to our commitment to providing quality healthcare for all Zamfara residents,” he added.
The renovation project includes steady 32 kW solar power, 25 installed streetlights, and essential medical equipment. Lawal believes the upgraded hospital will significantly improve access to affordable healthcare for Kauran Namoda residents and neighboring communities.
