The First Lady of Zamfara, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has been honoured with the prestigious African Iconic Women Award 2025, recognising her exceptional leadership and advocacy abilities within the span of two years as the wife of the Zamfara State Governor.
The ceremony was held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja with the theme “Breaking Barriers, Building Legacy”.
It brought together distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to society, strengthening the resilience of African women.
The African Iconic Women Recognition Award (AIWRA) is a platform that recognises and celebrates the achievements of African women in various fields.
The AIWRA awards are presented annually, with winners selected based on their contributions to peacebuilding, national development, and other areas.
The AIWRA focuses on recognising outstanding women in leadership, public service, humanitarian work, and other impactful areas.
As a champion of women’s and children’s advocacy and empowerment, Huriyya Dauda Lawal has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to philanthropy and social impact.
In her remarks, she reaffirmed her continued commitment to protecting the rights of women and children and enhancing their well-being. She encouraged women and girls, saying, “The future is yours. Your voice matters, your dreams are valid, and your impact is unstoppable.”
