Zamfara State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, constituted seven strategic committees to address key challenges affecting education in the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam, approved the constitution of seven committees.
The committees were established to strengthen accountability, improve governance, enhance policy implementation, and support the objectives of the State of Emergency on Education declared by His Governor Dauda Lawal.
This was revealed in a statement by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Maryam Yahaya Shantali.
The committees are: Committee on Grievances Redress Mechanism for State of Emergency on Education Actions; Committee on the Vacation of Unauthorized Occupants of Teachers’ Quarters; and Committee on School Farm Development, Management and Sustainability.
There are also Committee on Planning and Coordination of End-of-Year School Activities and Celebrations.; and the Private Schools Standards and Enforcement Committee.
There are also a Committee on the Ban of Trading, Hawking and Unauthorized Commercial Activities Within School Premises; and Committee on the Handover of Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) and Girls’ Focal Schools to the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB).
The Permanent Secretary noted that the committees are expected to play a vital role in supporting the Ministry’s reform agenda and ensuring effective implementation of key policies and programmes across the Education sector.
