Kebbi State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arch. Sani Aliyu has disclosed that within three years of the creation of his Ministry, Zakkat and Hisbah boards under the Ministry,have distributed over 160m cash to people and resolved 1,490 marriage disputes.
Aliyu who disclosed this during a press briefing with the newsmen in Birnin Kebbi , revealed that Zakkat board also distributed grains worth N10m to the less privileged across the state.
The pioneer Commissioner of the Ministry explained that since the creation of the Ministry on the ,18/8/2023, it’s has promoted peace,unity among all the religious leaders in the state.
According to him, ” we have Zakkat board, hisbah board and Preaching board under the Ministry. Since our inception, Zakkat board has distributed N160m in cash to people across the state and over N10m worth of grains.
“This board also dished out series of empowerment to Small Scale and Medium Enterprises with about N500,000 to support them. They also organised free medical treatment in partner with other Islamic organization for over 20,000 mentally derailed persons.
“Similarly,Hisbah boards, had intervened in 1,490 marriages which about to collapse. They settled the disputes and families returned to normal”.
Aliyu while responded to questions, disclosed that the Ministry aware of antic of criminal elements in the society to recruit Almajiri children and they have started working to provide vocational centers in some of the Almajiri schools to reduce them from the streets.
He added that the Ministry had partnered with the Qatari charity foundation which has continue to build mosques, sponsoring 30 orphans to school, and giving out 50,000 and N200,000 monthly stipend to sighted impair people in the state.
Aliyu commended Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris for the creation of the Ministry, stressed that they have been able to foster unity among all faiths.
