The Chief of Staff to the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammad Garba, has stated that the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, will soon meet with his predecessor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and other top APC leaders in the state.

Speaking on a local radio programme in Kano on Tuesday, Garba explained that the meeting will pave the way for Yusuf’s expected defection to the APC.

He noted that the meeting would bring together key party leaders, including the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, the state APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, and other stakeholders in order to finalise Yusuf’s switch to the APC.

Garba added that the much-anticipated defection of the governor and his supporters would help build another comprehensive, credible and verifiable membership database, significantly enhancing the party’s electoral performance nationwide.

He noted that the e-registration exercise of the APC would also strengthen the party’s prospects, building on over one and a half decades of loyalty and organisational influence in the state.

“Members were also urged to remain united and rally behind the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises the socio-economic development of Nigeria, emphasising that political cohesion is essential for achieving both party and national objectives.”

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at the Kano Government House.

At least two bulletproof armoured tanks and a hot water tank have been mobilised and stationed at the entry point of the Kano State Government House.

Also noticed at the Kano Government House on Tuesday was an additional deployment of armed security personnel, particularly officers of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Daily Sun gathered that the fresh deployment may not be unconnected to the growing tension between members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the rainbow group of persons supporting the governor.
