The Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, has begged Nigerians to own the power infrastructure in their areas and ensure its protection from vandals.

The Minister’s appeal is contained in his Christmas message to Nigerians where he said that by preventing the acts of vandalism through vigilance, they would be ensuring the protection of the country’s grid from collapse and the gains achieved in the incremental addition of power tothe grid.

According to the Minister, the reforms in the power sector have started yielding positive results as evidenced in improved power supply to households and businesses across the country.

“The reforms, particularly in the Power sector, have started yielding positive results and those results will be consolidated upon to make life more meaningful for all Nigerians.

“Beyond the national grid alignment, renewable and alternative sources of electricity supply are being vigorously pursued, especially for our educational and health institutions.

“President Bola Tinubu, has restated the fact that electricity is a fundamental human right of all Nigerians and we at the Ministry of Power are pursuing this agenda with vigour and we promise to deliver on this, as directed by the President. The new year will herald a new dedication and commitment in this area and in all the power sector value chain,’ he said.

Adelabu urged Christians and Nigerians to emulate the selfless sacrifice of Jesus Christ and called on citizens to rededicate themselves to the betterment of fellow Nigerians and the country, reflecting on the sacrifice Jesus made to redeem humanity.

He wished Christians in Oyo State and Nigeria, a joyous celebration, emphasising the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice while encouraging Nigerians to follow Jesus’ example by making sacrifices for the greater good.

Adelabu also used the opportunity to reassure Nigerians of the President  Tinubu’s commitment to delivering on its Renewed Hope Agenda and expressed optimism that Nigerians will soon begin to reap the dividends of democracy.

As Nigerians celebrate Christmas, Adelabu’s message serves as a poignant reminder of the values of sacrifice, dedication, and compassion that Jesus embodied.

“On this occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ, this is to wish our Christian brothers and sisters a wonderful celebration. Let us all reflect on the sacrifice that the saviour of the world, made by becoming a mere mortal, in other to redeem us of our sins.

“We are encouraged by this huge and monumental sacrifice of Jesus Christ, to also key into this sacrifice, in giving our support to the economic reforms  by President Tinubu, as the reforms are being undertaken to secure the future of all Nigerians,” he said.
