Youths from across the 11 electoral wards in Shani Local Government Area of Borno State have insisted that Deputy Speaker, Borno State House of Assembly, Danlami Kubo, contest again in 2019.

The youths’ support for Kubo, the claim, was based on his (Kubo’s) sterling leadership qualities.

The youths, who thronged the lawmaker’s residence in Kubo in their hundreds, at the weekend, declared that Danlami Kubo had no choice but to contest again come 2019.

Speaking on behalf of the youths,  Alhaji Bala Adamu, Youth Leader,  told the crowd that based on his exemplary leadership qualities, the entire youths of the area are insisting that he seeks for a fourth term at the state assembly.

“Danlami Kubo has been a leader who has the people at heart. He has so far demonstrated that he is truly our representative.

“We the youths in Shani want him back in office again. We are asking him to contest again. Though it’s not time for politics, we are asking him to recontest because he has carried us all along, ” Adamu said.

Earlier in his speech, Kubo who was on a visit to parley with party officials, elders, women and youth leaders from Kubo ward, urged them to remain focused and committed to the ideals of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)  under the leadership of Governor Kashim Shettima.

He appealed to them to remain calm and peaceful as the state government tackles the challenges confronting the people especially in the wake of the Boko Haram insurgency.

Kubo described the Mega school under construction in Shani as well as the general hospital in Bargu as projects that are being undertaking by the state government to improve the living conditions of the people.

He said there has been consistent effort to draw the attention of government to the deplorable condition of roads in the area, particularly the Bargu-Kubo-Shani road, stressing that government is aware of the state of the road with engineers already drafted to survey the road for upgrade.

Danlami used the opportunity to appeal to the people to ensure they register as well as collect their Permanent Voters Cards ahead of the 2019 general election.

“Those that have reached the age of 18 should go and register. Those who are yet to collect their PVCs must ensure they collect it, ” he said.

The Deputy Speaker thereafter distributed clothing materials, wrappers, bathing soaps,  as well as cash to elders, women youths and ward party officials.

He later paid a homage to the palace of the Emir of Shani, HRH Alhaji Nasiru Muhammad Mailafiya.

Danlami Kubo has already set a record for being elected into the state assembly for a consecutive third time.
