The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has emphasised that there will be no return to the Senate for Ireti Kingibe.
Wike said this on Monday during a media parley in Abuja, where he added that Kingibe will not return to the Senate in 2027 as she has “no project to show”.
Kingibe represents the FCT in the upper legislative chamber. She was elected on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) in 2023.
She earlier accused Wike of refusing to respond to her letters and messages amid rising insecurity in Abuja, claiming that the minister does not have the FCT’s interest at heart.

According to Kingibe, FCT residents are facing water scarcity alongside other challenges.
Speaking on Monday, Wike, who first pledged in 2024 that Kingibe would not return to the Senate, reiterated his words.
“I had said it more than one year ago, Senator Ireti, you won’t come back as a senator. That’s why you people don’t like people who tell you the truth. It’s bitter. Let her show one project,” Wike stated.
Wike further said Kingibe had been absent from satellite communities where people actually show up to cast their votes.
