Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has described former Commonwealth Secretary-General Chief Emeka Anyaoku as a world-class diplomat, a revered patriot, and a priceless asset to Nigeria and Anambra.
Soludo stated this in a statement issued by his press secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, to mark the 93rd birthday of the renowned diplomat and elder statesman.
He congratulated the nonagenarian on the milestone and commended his lifetime of distinguished service to the nation and the global community.
The governor extolled Anyaoku as an eminent patriarch of diplomacy and a statesman of global repute whose life’s work has brought honour and pride to Nigeria.
He noted that Anyaoku’s tenure as the third Commonwealth Secretary-General stood out as a model of international leadership, conflict resolution, and firm advocacy for democracy, human rights, and sustainable development.

According to the governor, Anyaoku has consistently projected Nigeria’s core values of wisdom, integrity, and commitment to the common good on the global stage.
Soludo added that, at home, the elder statesman remains a source of inspiration, known for his intellectual depth, principled leadership, and patriotic devotion.
He said Anyaoku’s counsel, shaped by decades of experience and selfless service, continues to be invaluable to the quest for a progressive Anambra and a united Nigeria.
The governor wished Anyaoku continued good health, fulfillment, and peace in the years ahead as he celebrates his 93rd birthday.
