Renown newspaper distributor with The Sun Newspaper, Moses Aremu Oni, was among several community members honoured during the 2022 Yoruba Community Day in Sokoto State.
The veteran journalist was honoured with an outstanding leadership award at the ceremony held at Trade Fair Complex, Sokoto.
Similar recognition also went to the General Manager of K&E Construction (Nig) Limited, Sokoto, Jerry Ibitomihi, who was bestowed with an outstanding leadership award.
Ibitomihi, who was represented by Moses Ajibola, described the award as a worthy recognition and promised to continue contributing his quota to the community’s development and members’ wellbeing.
President General of Yoruba community in Sokoto, James Olorunfemi, commended Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for providing an enabling environment for non-indigenes, especially Yoruba origin living in the state.
He assured the state government and the host community in general of support and cooperation of Yoruba origin living in the state.
Olorunfemi, however, called on residents of the state, especially the non-indigenes to play their role in the forthcoming 2023 general election by voting for the candidates of their choice.
Chairman on the occasion, Bashir Hassan Agbana, appealed to members of the community to continue living in peace and harmony with their host.
