Yobe State Police Command has clamped down on criminals, arresting 28 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers in the process. They were arrested from their various hideouts Damaturu Nangene local governments.
Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, said: “The command chased out the hoodlums during operations. I visited some of the flashpoints where the hoodlums operated in Nguru Local Government.
“We have given them more support and encouragement to confront the criminals. We only indulge in acts that will protect the image of the police. We are mindful of the citizens’ fundamental human rights while discharging their duties.
“Police operatives arrested 10 suspected armed robbers in Jerusalem, Damaturu. We raided their hideouts and recovered some weapons they used during operations.
“The Police Tactical Team foiled a kidnap attempt along Bauchi-Damaturu Expressway. The suspects escaped and abandoned their arms and ammunition at the scene of crime. We have arrested another set of armed robbers and thugs. They used to rob victims with the assistance of a vigilance group and hunters.
“The command has heightened security measures. We have sharpened patrol strategies, deploying personnel and collaborating to ensure a peaceful state. Also, we have implemented proactive measures to neutralise potential threats to the peace and security of the state.
