A group of All Progressive Congress (APC) supporters in Yobe State has canvassed for retention of the governorship seat in the state East Senatorial zone to sustain democratic dividends in the state.

The group made this known at an APC Yobe East Solidarity Movement rally in Damaturu, Yobe capital weekend.

Speaking at the rally, leader of the movements and former  Commissioner for Water Resources in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Bakabe, said the agitation for Yobe East to produce the governor in 2027 was not new. He recalled that similar efforts existed during the era of late Gov. Mamman Ali’s administration (2011-2015).

He maintained that the Yobe East produced limited tenures in the past, arguing that the time has come for a fair opportunity to produce a governor.

Bakabe said the rally was also organized to encourage the senator representing Yobe East Senatorial zone, Sen Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai to contest the 2027 Yobe governorship election, citing his legislative record and development projects initiated by him as a National Assembly member.

“We know campaigns have not started. The APC is one family and this is just the beginning,” Bakabe said.

He described the movement as “people-driven and rooted in long-standing political advocacy” in the state.

He said the group has not commenced formal campaigns but would embark on consultations across the state to present Bomai’s credentials and promote unity among party members..
