The emergence of Prof Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda as the new National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will deepen internal democracy, build stronger bridges of unity, and also consolidate the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

Chairman of the United Kingdom chapter of APC, Tunde Doherty made the remarks in his congratulatory message to Yilwatda, who was until his appointment the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

Doherty, who also chairs the APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen, stated that Yilwatda’s experience, integrity, vision, and proven leadership capacity played a significant role in his appointment as the party’s national chairman.

He noted that Yilwatda came on board at a pivotal time when his political knowledge and experiences were needed most in the life of the party and the nation’s democracy as a whole.

“On behalf of the APC UK, and APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen, I express my congratulations to our new leader and national chairman of our party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).

“I express utmost confidence in the ability of the new chairman to steer the party with wisdom, innovation, inclusiveness and I assure him that the APC UK and the diaspora community are ready to collaborate and contribute meaningfully to the progress of the APC under his leadership,” he said.

Yilwatda was announced the party’s national chairman during the 14th meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) held on Thursday at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. His emergence came following the resignation of the former chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down last month citing health-related concerns.

Doherty, also urged members of the party in the UK, including the APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen to remain committed to the ideals of the party. Efforts, he said, should be made to ensure victory for the party in all elections.
