Yellow Card, has acquired Brazilian financial technology company, GoMoney, marking its entry into Brazil and strengthening its presence in the Latin American market.

The acquisition of GoMoney Sociedade Prestadora de Serviços de Ativos Virtuais Ltda. establishes Yellow Card’s direct operations in Brazil as part of its broader strategy to expand its global financial infrastructure network and strengthen cross-border payment services.

The deal will enable Yellow Card’s clients to access local payment collections and disbursements in Brazilian reais, including through Pix, Brazil’s instant payment system, while facilitating settlements in stablecoins.

The services will be delivered through GoMoney as a locally established provider and integrated with Yellow Card’s existing treasury and liquidity management solutions across its international markets.

GoMoney, which was founded in 2018, will continue to operate under its existing leadership as a wholly owned subsidiary of Yellow Card.

However, the company is still awaiting full regulatory authorisation from the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB), having submitted an application to operate as a virtual asset service provider under Law No. 14,478/2022 and BCB Resolution No. 519/2025.

Pending the regulator’s review and approval, GoMoney will continue operating under Brazil’s transitional regulatory framework for virtual asset service providers.

Speaking on the acquisition, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Yellow Card, Chris Maurice, said the expansion underscored the company’s commitment to building a global financial infrastructure network supported by local expertise, regulatory compliance and established payment systems.

“Building global financial infrastructure requires compliance with local frameworks, local payment rails, and local expertise and relationships to operate effectively,” Maurice said.

He noted that GoMoney had built a strong foundation in Brazil over the past eight years, expressing confidence that the combination of both businesses would create greater value for customers and accelerate Yellow Card’s long-term growth ambitions.

The expansion comes amid increasing demand for digital financial services and cross-border payment solutions in Brazil, which has emerged as one of Latin America’s largest markets for digital assets.

According to blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis, Brazil recorded $252.5 billion in cryptocurrency activity between July 2025 and June 2026, making it the largest cryptocurrency market in Latin America.

The report also indicated that stablecoin activity in Brazil increased by 495 per cent across its 2024–2026 comparison period, driven partly by growing business demand for cross-border transfers and liquidity management services.

Commenting on the development, GoMoney’s Chief Executive Officer and co-founder, Maurício Pires, said the acquisition would provide an opportunity to expand the company’s services beyond Brazil and deepen its presence across Latin America.

“We have spent the last eight years building a virtual asset service provider business in Brazil focused on using Stablecoins as a means of effecting cross-border payments, similar to what Yellow Card has been doing in Africa and globally over the same period,” Pires said.

“We are excited to become part of the Yellow Card team, and look forward to expanding our business in Brazil and throughout Latin America.”

The acquisition comes barely three months after Yellow Card secured $40 million in financing in August 2026, with investments from Standard Chartered Bank and Sony, as the company continues to strengthen its international operations.

Yellow Card has also recorded regulatory approvals and registrations in several markets, including Canada, Switzerland, Nigeria, Ghana and Zimbabwe, as part of efforts to expand its services across different jurisdictions.

The company said it would continue to deepen its presence in strategic markets, expand its product capabilities and strengthen partnerships required to support businesses operating across international borders.

Yellow Card currently supports more than 50 currencies, providing financial institutions, fintech companies and multinational businesses with infrastructure to access US dollars, manage treasury operations and facilitate cross-border payments.

With the acquisition of GoMoney, the company is positioning itself to strengthen payment connections between emerging markets while expanding its international financial services network.
